Songs of Seraphina released
We’re so excited to announce that Songs of Seraphina by Jude Houghton is now available in paperback, Kindle and EPUB formats, with a gorgeous hardcover on its way.
We knew we wanted Songs of Seraphina from the very first scene. With a taste of Neil Gaiman and hints of Narnia, its fairy tale quality and creeping, understated darkness were exactly what we love here at Tenebris. Add to that three uniquely strong girls as protagonists and we knew it was a win all the way. It’s our first young adult novel, but we think it’s got something for everyone, especially those who love it when our world collides with another. Not only do the three sisters, Charlemagne, Cairo and Pendragon “Penny” Agnonistes—don’t you just love those names?!—have to acclimatise to rural England after growing up in American suburbia, they are each sent into the lives of others in a parallel war-torn world where three great civilisations are battling it out for survival.
It was difficult to pull together a short and snappy back cover blurb for a book that holds so many interwoven stories, but here’s the low-down:
Three sisters are sent from America to England to live with their eccentric grandparents after their mother disappears and their father falls to pieces. But before the girls have time to find their feet, Charlemagne is married off to a dead man, Penny takes a nap and wakes up as a boy, and Cairo is swept into a dangerous romance with a man who wants her for more than her considerable charm.
With the girls wrapped up in a conflict they barely understand, they don’t notice that their grandmother is transforming, or that the two demigod assassins who took their mother are now coming for them—if one of them can get over his crisis of conscience.
